9th- 12th Grade
Options
provide a unique opportunity for students with learning differences
to receive an education within a college preparatory or career technical
environment. The program is designed to remediate areas of weakness
and provide personalized support so that students will successfully
transition to post-secondary options of attending college, the military,
training programs and/or being successful in their chosen careers.
Options help students to receive a regular education diploma and/or
valuable work and life skills training. In some cases, students
will be eligible to take state required test for licensure in certain
career and technical areas such as (Child Development Associate
(CDA), and Certified Home Health Aid (CHHA). Under Options, we also
offer a Cosmetology apprenticeship program.
Options
students learn and practice life skills for success in life and
career. Students also learn the importance of arriving to work on
time, appropriate work attire, interview skills, paying taxes on
time, writing a resume and social networking. The program also examines
the importance of maintaining an appropriate profile online, professional
and unprofessional action(s) in the work place, and how to socialize
positively with coworkers and clients.
Measurable outcomes of the Options Program:
- To improve
reading and math skills to at least a functional level
- Obtain
a high school diploma
- Assessments
conducted bi-annually to measure student progress toward learning
- Obtain
required certification and licenses for vocational areas offered
- Develop
a Life Plan including short, medium, and long-term goals
- Demonstrate
ability to self-advocate
